Chicago-based music producer and DJ Slot-A, first fell in love with making beats back in his high school multimedia class in 2000. Wanting to be around music as much as possible, he dual-enrolled at the local community college studying music production, and when he wasn’t in class, you could find him working at FYE thumbing through albums for production and songwriting credits.

Slot has since produced tracks for the likes of Add-2, Amanda Seales, Phat Kat and Skyzoo. You can experience Slot’s production range on Jamila Wood’s new album, “Legacy! Legacy!,” that was released in May of 2019.

As Slot-A has evolved from being a producer into a DJ, he’s opened for the likes of Ghostface Killah, Tech 9, Lunice, and spun for the legendary Rakim. 2021 was a particularly wonderful year for Rehna. She collaborated with 10 other poets from different parts of the world to publish their first book ‘Beautiful People and Words – A Collection of Poems from Around the World’. This was her dream, and she was the driving force behind this project. Since then, the social media community ‘Beautiful People and Words’ was formed. They meet on clubhouse few times a week to share poetry and pour love into each other.

Sharon Radigan was Born and raised in Brooklyn NY. City life moved fast, which did not allow her to be surrounded by the beautiful and natural elements of this Earth. That fast paced lifestyle stayed with her for many years. The healing power of nature was not something she fully understood until now. Her curiosity of natural energy, allowed her to explore facets that lead her through a beautiful journey of self discovery.

She knew she loved beautiful things and how they made her feel, which led her to becoming a licensed cosmetologist. Making people feel beautiful and how it impacted their confidence, was always something so powerful to her. A simple change created a shift. However, there was something about the physical changes that still felt superficial.

Moving to the suburbs began her love affair with nature. After experiencing a traumatizing life event, she instinctively started on a path that would lead to, not only her own healing, but understanding more about the energy around us and moving through us. She just moved in the direction that made her feel good to her core. She began to spend more time in nature, along with choosing how and with who she spent her time with.

It was the positive energetic impact that was so powerful. Becoming certified as a Feng Shui Practitioner was the natural next step for her. Still making things beautiful, but with a bigger purpose. The ultimate goal is to help people understand something they can't see. To trust their intuition and hear their own voice.

We give too much of our own personal power away, which can lead to living a life that does not feel purposeful. Understanding how to work with the energies and live in balance with them, opens us up to so much more than the eye can see in physical form.

Culture Talks with Isaac Rocha

Isaac Rocha grew up in the small town of Las Cruces, New Mexico, as the son of Hector and Becky Rocha. He was raised in a faith-based community known as the Apostolic Assembly, where his father served as a minister throughout his life.

In 2003, Isaac graduated from Onate High School with a full scholarship to New Mexico State University. However, he lost the scholarship shortly thereafter. After spending a year at college, he decided to take a break to reevaluate his options—a pause that unexpectedly stretched into 16 years, as he realized that traditional college was not the right fit for him.

Over the past 22 years, Isaac has gained diverse work experience, from fast food and retail to corporate banking and Lyft driving. He has also been involved in church worship singing and leadership, and he now runs his own business from the comfort of his home and phone. His varied skill set allows him to connect deeply with people and serve families across different communities, helping them increase their income, save on taxes and insurance, and ensure they are properly protected.

During this time, Isaac embarked on a transformative 14-year weight-loss journey that saw him shed 80 pounds. This experience elevated his self-love practices and deepened his understanding of self-healing, leading to renewed behaviors, habits, and a holistic transformation in his life—mind, body, and spirit.

Relocating to Phoenix, AZ, five years ago further accelerated his desire for change. The shy introverted child who once hid behind his mother’s dress has become a confident individual. While his quiet demeanor might suggest otherwise, he communicates with remarkable wisdom and clarity.

Isaac identifies as a creative and empathetic person with a profound appreciation for the arts. His passions for food, travel, exploration, individuality, and freedom continue to flourish as he embraces each day. He now strives to live fully in the present moment.

Lauren is student of people...a curious spirit and her love for puzzles has found her in her latest favorite role of a mortgage loan officer. She started over 20 years ago as a fitness instructor and the thrill of changing someone’s life with one class spurred a passion for teaching and contributing to help people realize that they really can do whatever they set their minds to.

Her role as a mother of two amazing men has gifted her the ability to develop many unique skills throughout her life. She had the opportunity to start an interior design company when her boys were little to help other mom’s use the resources they already had to transform their homes with very little money. She holds a Bachelors degree in Fine Art and has studied Feng Shui, astrology, science, and different mediums of art; including Sculpting. Her passion for sculpture inspired the launch of her online fitness company a few years ago.

She transitioned from fitness to Real Estate, which lead her down the path as an appraiser to now mortgage lending. She fell into the mortgage industry at a time of difficulty and struggle in a very meaningful relationship. It was at this time that she took a very deep dive into self-awareness and her limiting core beliefs. She jokes about how being a loan officer is the perfect job for a recovering codependent.

Lauren's ability to connect with people, serve and make a difference in their life is a huge driver and motivator for her everyday. She continuously practices authenticity and is amazed and grateful for the community of clients whom she has the honor of serving.

Sandra Espiritu was born in Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico and moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico at the age of nine with her single mother and three younger siblings. She learned work ethic, independence and responsibility at a very young age. Sandra acquired her New Mexico Real Estate Broker license in 2005. After 2 years in the business, she decided to launch her own Real Estate company during one of the toughest economic times.

During the 2008 market crash, Enchanted Sun Realty was born. Sandra is the Founder and Qualifying Broker of Enchanted Sun Realty, where they pride themselves in being a local boutique, woman-owned, minority-owned, Real Estate company in Las Cruces, New Mexico and expanding to surrounding areas. Her business philosophy has always been a “People Vs. Profit” business model and positive culture. Advocating home ownership, affordable housing, and sustainable living practices is their passion. Supporting local business, entrepreneurship, and inspiring women is part of their company mission.

Their team loves contributing back to their community as well as providing free education for first time home buyers, investors and teaching financial literacy. Her business and life philosophy is to make a positive impact on those around her, her team, clients, colleagues, and the communities they serve. Kendra Espiritu was born and raised in beautiful Las Cruces, New Mexico where she still calls home today. Born into a Mexican American family and living in a border town, Kendra has developed an admiration for culture and people. Kendra is a senior studying at New Mexico State University and will be graduating December 2021 with her Bachelor’s in International Business, and minors in International Studies and Spanish.

After graduating, she wishes to pursue law school for Environmental Law. Kendra’s passion is to work with non-government entities in creating and enforcing environmental standards for businesses and communities. During Kendra’s college career, she studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain and fell in love with the experience, city and its people. This is where she hopes to return to pursue an International Environmental Law program.

But, not before she opens up her coffee, pizza, and wine lounge, Grounded Cafe, with her family this fall! Kendra has been a barista for 4+ years and has been involved in the coffee industry/ culture since she was young. Her favorite aspect about the coffee industry is its ability to bring people together and provide a shared space to be creative, make connections, and collaborate with others in the community. Grounded has been a dream of Kendra and her family for many years, as they have always wanted to own their own coffee shop. This past year, although difficult, provided the Espiritu family with the opportunity to fulfill that dream.

Jolene Martinez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer for Families & Youth, Inc., a non-profit organization operating in Southern New Mexico. She earned both her graduate and undergraduate degrees from New Mexico State University (NMSU). Jolene’s career has been focused primarily in child welfare, serving most of her career at the state child protective service office.

More recently her efforts have been centered on renewing, developing, and restoring services at Families & Youth, Inc. in the areas of behavioral health, innovative youth programming, child welfare, emergency shelter, and food insecurity. Jolene’s social work interests include assessing and intervening with macro systems at their intersection with oppressive practices that harm and immobilize families and communities.

Born and raised in Northern New Mexico, Jolene moved to Southern New Mexico to pursue her education and has made Las Cruces, NM her home for the last 18 years. Jolene is married to a US Army Veteran, Dustin and together they have 3 children. On a personal note Jolene describes herself as a believer, leader, and motivator. A baby artist, retro sneaker head, and general rebel rouser on a mission. A mission to heal herself through using her time, talents, and treasure to serve others.

Dawn Donson is an educator, a life long learner and a builder of people. She loves to help folks design their best life in health, home, business & overall happiness. Dawn’s entire life has revolved around education, sports, health, art and making people laugh. She knew at a young age that she was destined to do great things, to coach / teach people young and old how to design the best version of themselves.

Her entire life has been dedicated to the education of young people. She received a bachelors degree in special education at Ball State and a Masters in Education from Earlham College. Dawn has retired from the traditional classroom setting and is now using her skills and talents in the non traditional sense through volunteer work, in the arts, Nature Guide & hospital.

She is also in the processes of getting her nutritional coaching certification along with starting her own business in the health and wellness industry. Dawn is a firm believer in taking every opportunity that presents itself, combining all of her loves and empowering others with every to do the same. Dawn believes in hard work and what you practice is how you will play. She believes every situation can be figured out and you have to have fun while in the process of working on you.

Culture Talks with Amee Bee

Amee means unconditional love in Sanskrit. Amee Bee is an artist and poet, born in America of Indian descent, inspired by love. She has bright blue eyes and slender artistic hands, which are rare features for Indian culture. She never painted in her life, until a sweet friend looked at her hands and told her to pursue art and poetry.

Without professional lessons in art (or poetry), she began to paint one cold January morning in 2017. Art, travel and new experiences for Amee Bee are the best outlets for self discovery, self acceptance and for her to stay in an inspired state of being. By sharing her experiences, she hopes it inspires you to be in love or do art, too.

Amee Bee adores the quirkiness of Mark Jacobs personality, wit and charm of the late Kate Spade, passion of Vincent Van Gogh- just as much as the chill vibes of Buddha and love poems by Rumi. Amee aims to find beauty in what's around her and be appreciative of what she has.

It's her secret to happiness. Art, poetry and stories are what translate from it. By sharing, she hopes you to experience the love and magic within you. Thank you for reading.

Darrell Ross-Brown is a sales consultant for a home builder in Austin, TX. He started selling homes 3 years ago and I was flat broke when he started. He's just an average guy that came from poverty level income to the top level 5% of earners in American in 3 years.

Through his journey, he has learned a few life lessons that were never taught growing up and would love to share them with the world. His mission is to let people know that you don’t have to be an athlete or entertainer to be successful. The only thing that is stopping you from being successful is yourself.
